Just a bunch of buds!

Happy Trails, Prospector is a musical marriage between five lovely Canadians, each of whom sings lead and harmony vocals, offering their audience a diverse (yet cohesive) sound with tons of energy. The five friends are: Patrick Hamilton on guitar, Sarah Hamilton on fiddle, Nathan Smith on fiddle, Miles Zurawell on banjo, and Nico Humby on bass.

This emerging team brings together decades of seasoned musical expertise. As individuals they have traveled across the country and internationally with celebrated bluegrass, Americana, and rock acts. As a unit, they have instructed at bluegrass camps such as Nimblefingers in BC and Northern Lights Bluegrass and Old-Tyme in Saskatchewan, and have performed at the Cowichan Bluegrass Festival and the Campbell Bay Music Festival.

In January of 2023, the group met up in Whitehorse, YK at the Hamilton Compound to record in Bob Hamilton’s Old Crow Recording studio. Their debut album “The Good, The Bad and the Dreadful” is a compilation of the groups favourite Bluegrass, Old-Time and Classic Country songs. Sarah Hamilton

Nathan Smith

Nathan, known to us as Nathe, is the positive energy that holds us all together. He is a fiddle player and singer currently based in Smiths Falls, ON by way of Toronto and his hometown of North Bay. Nathan is in high demand as a performer and teacher, and plays in renowned Canadian acoustic groups The Barrel Boys and Vinta.

A Legit Origin Story

It all began at Northern Lights Bluegrass’s Camp in 2021: Five super cool people, most of which are meeting for the very first time, are gravitationally pulled together by super rad tunes and rib-cramping-laughter-filled conversations. One thing leads to another and they’re taking a band photo, you know… just for fun, and before you can even open a bag of Rold Gold pretzels, they’ve got a festival gig booked for the next summer.
